Please Touch Museum, the Children’s Museum of Philadelphia seeks a Vice President of External Relations & Business Development to help promote our mission of “Enriching the Lives of Children by Creating Learning Opportunities Through Play.”
This position reports to the Executive Vice President and works closely with the executive team and the other members of the senior management team in setting strategic directions and implementing programs.
The VP, External Relations & Business Development will provide leadership, management and program development for the department. Responsibilities include maintaining the museum’s image and public relations, strategic planning, policy development, product development, promotions, advertising and maintaining sales.
Additionally, this position is responsible for all activities related to conceptualizing and implementing market strategy, achieving strategic goals and achieving marketing and income targets through repeat visitation and developing new visitors and buyers for products and services. Specific responsibilities include market and business development, and membership development in support of the Museum’s $10 million operating budget.
Requirements include: BA degree in marketing or related field, Master’s degree strongly preferred; a minimum of ten years senior level experience in sales and/or marketing position with a large cultural, non-profit, or academic institution; a demonstrated track record of accomplishments in institutional marketing and planning; broad functional experience in areas of strategic planning and marketing, business and market development, market research and planning and promotions/advertising; knowledge of structuring sales quota goals and revenue expectations; experienced leader who has been a member of an executive management team, demonstrating excellent accountability, leadership, communication, mentoring, empowerment and resource management skills; proven ability to make effective and persuasive presentations; and conflict resolution and mediation skills necessary. Relocation assistance is not available.
