Foster Organizational Financial Health to Help More Families Achieve Self-Sufficiency
As we celebrate our 30th year and with our new strategic plan, ACHIEVEability is set to build on our strong foundation of increasing success in helping families break the generational cycle of poverty. As such, ACHIEVEability is seeking a VP, Administration to provide leadership for our Administration, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance and Quality Assurance functions that will ensure that our internal infrastructure fully supports our planned growth.
ACHIEVEability, the Philadelphia Foundation’s 2006 Good Governance Awardee and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce’s 2004 Nonprofit of the Year, is seeking a person with integrity, competence, commitment to our mission, communication skills, creativity, and legal, business and administrative background to be our VP, Administration.
Position Summary:
The Vice President, Administration (VP) assists in management of operations and implementation of policies and procedures. The VP provides leadership to and directs the Administration, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance and Quality Assurance functions. The VP sets goals, monitors work, and evaluates results to ensure that departmental and organizational objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with the needs and mission of the organization.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Organizational Planning
· Facilitates the development, maintenance, and monitoring of organizational plans.
· Responsible for preparing the organization for ongoing change.
· Responsible for the development and management of integrated, strategy aligned departmental working plans.
· Oversee risk management and legal activities: letters of agreement, contracts, leases, and other legal documents and agreements
· Business insurance: procurement, monitoring and management
Management Accountabilities
· Directs all aspects of effective administrative management
· Responsible for supporting the CEO in all aspects of program growth specifically through strategic and operational planning guidance and by ensuring that required infrastructure and support services are in place.
· Board of directors – working with the CEO provide staff support and guidance to ACHIEVEability’s board and act as staff liaison to relevant board committees
· Develops innovative initiatives to enhance internal efficiency and effectiveness
· Develops and interprets policies, procedures, purposes and goals of the organization.
Supervision Exercised:
The VP, Administration directly supervises all Administrative, Human Resources, Legal, Compliance and Quality Assurance staff.
Experience and Skills:
· Demonstrated leadership roles in previous positions desirable.
· Previous team management and supervision.
· Excellent public presentation and interaction skills.
· Ability to negotiate contracts.
· Board governance and management experience highly desired.
· Ability to work with social services and government agencies and other investors as part of collaborative relationship in meeting organizational mission and performance objectives.
· Skills should include organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning; demonstrated success developing and monitoring systems to manage both operational and programmatic work that involve high levels of collaboration.
· Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team.
· Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission of ACHIEVEability.
· Flexible and able to multi-task; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems.
Other Qualifications and Requirements:
· Master’s degree in business, finance or related field; Legal experience desired.
· Strong operational experience: ideally has worked in a senior management role for 5+ years in a socially responsible organization.
• Proven track record in not-for-profit management.
• Minimum of five years overseeing organizational human resources activities.
• Consensus building skills.
