Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern PA (BBBS SEPA) is the largest BBBS agency in the state and fourth largest in the nation. Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. BBBS SEPA seeks a VP of Marketing and Communications for our Philadelphia office. This position reports to the CEO. This pivotal role will provide functional support to the CEO and other executive team members by offering an expansive understanding of emerging opportunities, strategic input, and social media while promoting a positive work environment.

This position will help drive the strategic plan, in partnership with the organization’s CEO, Board of Directors, and the Leadership Team. A critical component of the work will be to establish, define and grow BBBS SEPA’s internal and external communication strategy. This position directly supervises at least three employees, two lobbying firms and a public relations consulting firm. This role also requires strong business acumen and the ability to tackle complex situations and multiple responsibilities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage external corporate and nonprofit partners to develop strong working relationships.
  • Enhance individual and institutional support from corporate, philanthropic and governmental sectors in conjunction with efforts of the staff, and Executive and Regional Boards.
  • Oversee “earned revenue” partnerships, including Good Deeds Wireless and Clothes for Kids’ Sake.
  • Work on a variety of high-profile projects and events to heighten awareness, exposure and build support, including the upcoming SEPA 100-year anniversary in 2015.
  • Interact effectively with a variety of government funding agencies and sources.
  • Help support the public policy agenda of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
  • Manage marketing, social media, public relations and communications as it relates to media.
  • Ensure internal compliance to organizational branding of all external, online and electronic materials.
  • Ensure communications have high impact for targeted audiences.
  • Respond to and meet with a broad range of internal and external individuals, especially during crisis communication, and coordinate responses, solutions and follow-up.
  • Coordinate Board relations, communications, and meetings; assist Board committees with special projects by conducting research, collecting and analyzing data, drafting reports and preparing presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Set vision and goals for the Communications and Marketing team.
  • Create strategic plans for achieving team and agency goals.
  • Develop and execute a communications plan each year.
