Health Communications Initiative Coordinator
This position entails coordinating, implementing, and marketing Project SHINE?s health communication initiative, which promotes awareness and understanding of health communication needs of immigrants through ESL health units and health-related programming. The VISTA member will engage in the following tasks and activities:
-Develop marketing and public relations materials
-Coordinate health professions students in student-led health education activities at community sites
-Assist with in-class training of student participants
-Document health education activities at community sites
-Conduct research into the health literacy needs of elder immigrants and refugees
-Research funding opportunities
-Work with project staff to organize special events for Project SHINE
-Compile information for reports to funders
-Develop content for Project SHINE?s national and local program Web sites
-Maintain participant databases

Communications Coordinator
This position helps build the capacity of Project SHINE?s national network. The VISTA member oversees communication across 18 program sites throughout the country and helps raise the visibility of the program nationally. The VISTA member will engage in the following tasks and activities:
– create PR and marketing materials to promote Project SHINE to a variety of audiences
– develop Web site resources for student tutors, program staff and other stakeholders
– develop systems and supervise reporting across the national program network
– write content for Web site
– Research funding opportunities
– Work with project staff to organize special events for Project SHINE

Associate Coordinator
This position supports Project SHINE?s Philadelphia service-learning ESL tutoring program. The VISTA member will develop ways to raise the visibility of the program, improve systems for student-tutor recruitment and support, and provide assistance to community sites in which tutoring takes place. The VISTA member will engage in the following tasks and activities:
– Identify key contacts on Temple?s campus to improve recruitment of tutors
– Develop PR materials to effectively and creatively promote the program on campus and in the community, including Web site development
– Organize tutor training and reflection sessions for student tutors
– Oversee placement and on-going support of tutors at community sites
– Develop and implement plans to more effectively involve SHINE tutors as student leaders
– Document program activities
– Research funding opportunities
– Work with project staff to organize special events for Project SHINE
