“What Turns Service into Learning?” was led by Barbara Holland, Director of ETR’s National/ /Service-Learning Clearinghouse. Representatives from higher education, schools, and community-based organizations spoke about the commonalities and differences in their interpretations of service and service-learning. Panelists and the audience engaged in a discussion of how service-learning is different from service, the strengths of each, and effective strategies for developing service-learning programs in ways that are complementary to existing service activities.
