Characters ALIVE!
For Philadelphia students ages 12 to 15
1st & 3rd Thursday, 6:00-8:00pm
4/20, 5/4, 5/18, 6/1, 6/15 (five sessions)
This workshop will take place at 3861 Lancaster Ave
Bring stories to life in this interactive writing workshop! We’ll use writing prompts and physical exercises to develop characters that have been hiding in your imagination. Writing doesn’t have to be two dimensional! Instructor: Missy Philips
Superhero Stories Camp
For Philadelphia students ages 5 to 11
Monday – Friday, 9:00AM – 12:30PM
July 10 – July 21 (ten sessions)
This workshop will take place at 3861 Lancaster Ave
We’ll learn the basics of creative story writing and put our new skills to work! We’ll draw from our experiences and imaginations to write and illustrate short stories this summer. Then, we’ll get creative using StoryJumper.com and publish our stories online and in print.
All About Me Camp
For Philadelphia students ages 5 to 11
Monday – Friday, 9:00AM – 12:30PM
July 24 – August 4 (ten sessions)
This workshop will take place at 3861 Lancaster Ave
We’ll talk about what is special about each of us and learn how we already have so many stories to tell. From drawing the map of our neighborhood to writing songs and poems, this workshop will bring out the mightiness in all of us.
Doodles To Cursive Camp
For Philadelphia students ages 5 to 11
Monday – Friday, 9:00AM – 12:30PM
August 7 – August 18 (ten sessions)
This workshop will take place at 3861 Lancaster Ave
From doodles to letters, The Declaration of Independence to a blank check, it’s important for kids to be able to write cursive. We’ll learn the history, significance, and essentials of cursive writing, and create beautiful penmanship using a variety of media.
Mighty Mural Camp
For Philadelphia students ages 12 to 17
Monday – Friday, 1:00-5:00PM
July 10 – 21 (ten sessions)
This workshop will take place at 3861 Lancaster Ave
Do you want to explore your passion for art? Do you have a story that needs to be seen? Join local mural artist Brice Patterson in creating a mural with characters and life. We’ll design the visual story and leave our mark — a brand new mural — just blocks from MW West.
The Business of Music Camp
For Philadelphia students ages 12 to 17
Monday – Friday 1:00-5:00PM
July 24 – August 4 (ten sessions)
This workshop will take place at 3861 Lancaster Ave
Do you sing, rap or write music? Do you want to learn the first steps for turning your art into your business? We’ll write and record a songs of our own, and also leave with a start-up business plan.
My Philly Story Camp
For Philadelphia students ages 12 to 17
Monday – Friday, 1:00-5:00pm
August 7 – August 18 (ten sessions)
This workshop will take place at 3861 Lancaster Ave
What’s the story that you’ve been holding inside? Are you ready to share it? Young Adult authors such as Paul Langan (The Bluford Series), Sharon Flake (The Skin I’m In) and Major Jackson (Hoops), tell us stories of the teenage mind. In this workshop, we’ll share our own stories.
Magnificent Men
For Philadelphia students ages 12 to 17
Saturday, 12:00-2:00pm
3/25, 4/22, 5/27, 6/24 (monthly)
This workshop will take place at 3861 Lancaster Ave
We are writers by trade, but Mighty is our first name! Young men work with a group of male mentors from the Telrose corporation to learn confidence, team-building, and entrepreneurship, while documenting the journey.
