Various positions, Mantua in Action After School Program

Mantua in Action is an out-of-school time program for middle school youth in Mantua, involving a cross-section partnership of Drexel University, the Department of Parks and Recreation, DB4, Philadelphia Youth Sports Collaborative, We are Mantua and the Mantua Community Improvement Committee, with Educators for Education as Program Administrator.
Educators 4 Education (E4E) is looking to hire passionate and experienced individuals for the MIA Jr. high school after-school program to be held at the James Wright and Miles Mack Recreation Centers in 19104. Positions will begin in February for (1) Data Specialist, (2) Program Liaisons, (2) Math Teachers, (2) English Teachers and (2) Substitute Math Teachers, (2) Substitute English Teachers. All candidates should have a minimum of 2 years experience working with youth in an urban education setting. Each site will need one program liaison, two teachers and two substitutes will be hired for each site. The Data Specialist will support both sites.
Description of duties is as follows:
Teacher: Teaching staff will work Monday through Thursday, 4 to 6 pm, to provide daily instruction of up to approximately 20 children requiring assistance in reading and math. Teachers are also responsible for the coordination of paperwork, including pre-and post-student assessments. Must be able to create and implement classroom instruction according to student’s level of ability. Teachers must also be able to effectively deal with challenging behaviors and to utilize available supports including program directors and
coordinator to address issues that may arise that will prevent students from obtaining maximum benefit from the program. Teachers must attend scheduled team meetings in order to discuss any issues, report on student progress and to focus on student retention rate. Teachers must maintain a satisfactory level on quarterly performance evaluations.
Substitute Teachers: Subject to the aforementioned criteria; however, you will be assigned on an on-call basis on the occasions of vacancy by vacation or sick time of the regular staff.
Program Liaisons: The Program Liaisons will work Monday through Friday 2 to 6 pm. This person must be well organized, outgoing and possess the ability to manage an urban based after-school program for youth 5th through 8th graders. Duties consist of supporting the day-to-day operation of the after-school program including scheduling, educational enrichment, activity planning, safety, and discipline. Serve as a visionary, mentor and programmatic leader for staff, teens, and children. Build connections and maintain communication with the children’s families and local schools. Collect required program performance measure information and manage program budget. Work closely with City of Philadelphia Department of Recreation’s team to continuously improve department efforts. Meet regularly with the E4E Director to establish goals and work to continually improve programs.
Data Specialist: Data Specialist will work 5-10 hours a week as needed. Data Specialist is tasked with leading and managing the MIA data collection initiatives. Primary responsibility will focus on students enrolled in the MIA after-school program. The Specialist is responsible for data integrity, which functions as the database of record for all students’ demographic data and engagement information. The Specialist ensures that
data and information for the management of the database is trusted, readily available, and consistently accurate, as its impact is critical and significant to the efforts of MIA after-school program. The Specialist is additionally responsible for providing data definitions, establishing quality expectations and ensuring compliance to those expectations. The Specialist will also provide support to staff.
The employer for this program is Educators 4 Education for which you will be a contracted employee once hired. As an E4E contracted employee, you will be required to attend a mandatory orientation. Preference is given to candidates who live or work in the Mantua community.
