hOURS (http://www.hoursystem.net) is a Philadelphia-based service-exchange network and local currency system. Participants perform services for one another and pay each other in Hours for the time spent. It builds community, and supplies a mechanism by which people can provide for themselves outside the mainstream economy.
There are a couple volunteer opportunities available.
Fundraising co-ordinator: Seek donations from foundations and individuals. This could be a paid position if you can procure money for your own salary. If not, you’ll be paid in CASHours, a local, alternative currency.
Outreach co-ordinator: Perform a variety of tasks to spread the word about hOURS. Contact organizations that may want to pass the word onto their membership. Get media coverage, etc. Compensation in CASHours as well.
