Dean of School Culture

City Invincible Charter School is a new public K-8 charter school in Camden, NJ, that focuses on identity, community, and place with a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy. City Invincible Charter School will help children:
•    read on grade level by the end of third grade and will keep up on grade level in all grades
•    learn to high standards in all subjects
•    learn who they are – and grow into capable, caring, resilient, and responsible citizens of their school and community
•    learn where they’re from as they study in and about their neighborhood and their city to make their way in the world and make their world a better place.

K-5 Teachers
Teachers are responsible for the direct instruction of students, including: planning instruction and setting goals; implementing curriculum; clearly and timely communicating standards, achievements and deficiencies to students and parents; monitoring and assessing academic progress; working with students, specialists, parents and administrators to develop individual education plans; maintaining complete and accurate student academic and disciplinary records; maintaining safe and orderly classrooms; and maintaining and improving their own professional knowledge and skills.  Qualifications for the teacher position include:
–    Bachelor’s degree in appropriate subject matter/grade level
–    New Jersey Teacher Certification in appropriate level or subject area
–    At least two years of teaching experience preferred
–    Experience teaching in an urban school setting preferred
–    NJ resident, or willing to relocate within one year of date of hire.

Part-Time Art, Music, Language, and Gym Specialists
The Specialists are responsible for designing and implementing engaging instruction in their specialty area.  Responsibilities include planning instruction and setting goals, implementing curriculum, monitoring and assessing student progress, and maintaining safe and orderly classrooms.  Qualifications for the Specialist positions include:
–    Bachelor’s degree in specialty area in education
–    New Jersey Teacher Certification in specialty area
–    At least two years of teaching experience preferred
–    Experience teaching in an urban school setting preferred
–    NJ resident, or willing to relocate within one year of date of hire.

Special Education Teachers and Coordinator
Special education teachers are responsible for strengthening a student’s academic, vocational, behavioral, emotional, and social skills, enabling the student to maximize his/her potential and return to mainstream community schooling.  Special education teachers will implement an education program that facilitates the treatment process in compliance with the student’s IEP.  Qualifications for the special education teacher position include:
–    Bachelor’s degree in special education
–    New Jersey Special Education Teacher Certification
–    New Jersey Special Education Supervisory Certificate is required for the teacher/coordinator role
–    At least two years of special education teaching experience preferred
–    Experience teaching in an urban school setting preferred
–    NJ resident, or willing to relocate within one year of date of hire.

Civic Engagement Leader
City Invincible Charter School is currently seeking a Civic Engagement Leader. The Civic Engagement Leader works with the Dean for Learning and teachers to develop, implement, and oversee the service learning program within the school.  The Civic Engagement Leader supports community partners, faculty, and students in developing mutually beneficial service learning partnerships; develops curriculum with faculty and creates appropriate service projects that integrates the curriculum; and gathers and acts upon feedback from the community partners on their satisfaction with the service learning process.

Qualifications for the Civic Engagement Leader include:
–    Bachelor’s degree in education or related degree, Masters preferred
–    At least two years of relevant experience
–    Strong knowledge of service learning model
–    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
–    Ability to develop strong partnerships with a variety of stakeholders
–    NJ resident, or willing to relocate within one year of date of hire.

Dean for Learning
City Invincible Charter School is currently seeking a Dean for Learning. The Dean for Learning will oversee day-to-day instruction, curriculum implementation, and professional development for all staff.  The Dean is responsible for test coordination and benchmarking resulting in an academic atmosphere of high expectations and individualized supports.  This position also has responsibility for coordinating services to special student populations.
Qualifications for the Dean for Learning position include:
–    Master’s degree in education or related area
–    New Jersey Principal certification
–    3-5 years of teaching experience
–    3-5 years of academic leadership experience
–    Demonstrated success teaching and leading in an urban school environment
–    Strong experience and knowledge of service learning and project-based instruction
–    Strong understanding of data
–    NJ resident, or willing to relocate within one year of date of hire.

Dean of School Culture
City Invincible Charter School is currently seeking a Dean of School Culture. The Dean of School Culture is charged with establishing a positive educational setting for all school constituencies (students, staff, parents and partners), providing academic and social counseling, and overseeing the implementation of the code of conduct.  The Dean oversees the implementation of the Caring School Community program.  This position also has responsibility for extended day activities, including afterschool programs and intramural and interscholastic athletics, health and nutrition activities.  The Dean ensures that the school becomes a vital part of the fabric of the local neighborhood and community.  With support from the principal and staff, the Dean of School Culture encourages active parent participation in school activities and use of school resources to help support learning.  The Dean will also develop and structure ongoing community-focused initiatives that leverage the enthusiasm, interests, and commitment of students and staff to help transform the neighborhoods and areas surrounding the school.
Qualifications for the Dean of School Culture position include:
–    Five years’ experience in urban education
–    Proven track record in changing and improving educational environments
–    Youth development specialist
–    Familiarity with the Caring School Community or other school-wide character programs.
–    NJ resident, or willing to relocate prior to date of hire.
