EducationWorks is a nonprofit organization providing support for economically disadvantaged communities in Philadelphia and Chester, Pennsylvania and Camden, New Jersey.
The following part-time positions are available in Socialized Recess ; Academic Support; In-School Suspension; Library Assistant in elementary, middle, and high schools in these North, South, Southwest Philadelphia, and Kensington.
Socialized Recess Group Leader: ( approximately 20 hours per week)
Supervise students in the lunchroom, on the playground, outside the building and in other areas as directed by the principal. Support the transition from the cafeteria to the playground, and for the return to classes. Guide children’s play time to ensure safe, fun, and engaging recess periods. Provide organized games and activities to eliminate fighting, bullying, and other negative behaviors.
In-School Suspension Leader: (approximately 35 hours per week)
Support school efforts to provide programming for students assigned to in-school suspension enforcing established school rules and regulations.
Library Assistant: ( approximately 20 hours per week)
The Aide is responsible for performing routine clerical duties within the library and assisting library staff. Will also assists the students and patrons with locating information, stocks shelves, and checks out books and materials.
High School Academic Tutor: (approximately 35 hours per week)
The identified candidate will be expected to (but not limited to) support interventions in Keystone tested subjects (Algebra 1 and English 2) by tutoring and assisting children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers. They will be expected to discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts from baseline data and teacher input which will guide the interventions bypassing objectives already mastered and focus on more relevant needed objectives. Additionally, he/she will provide extra assistance to students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and mental disabilities and after school assistance to students in content areas they specialize (either English or Math).
Qualifications/Requirements:
1. High School Diploma. (Bachelor’s required for High School Academic Tutor)
2. Ability to engage, connect with and educate youth.
3. Reliable and committed
4. FBI, Pennsylvania Childline and Criminal Background Clearances.
5. Health Assessment and TB test.
