It’s that time of year again! Entrepreneurship Week will take place April 18-21, and below are the details for the free events we have scheduled! These events will be great networking opportunities and valuable for those in every stage of business development. Business Bingo & Networking Lunch
Monday, April 18, 12-1:30 PM
Come out for the launch of Entrepreneurship Week at Pumpkin Restaurant and enjoy an afternoon of networking, great food, and business bingo. Small prizes will be awarded for the winners! Food will be provided.

Alternative Sources of Business Financing
Monday, April 18, 6-8 PM
Need help financing your business? Think outside of the traditional business loans box! Join us at the PWDC, and hear from expert panelists from several local business nonprofits and agencies will discuss options like SBA loans, peer to peer lending, cooperatives, and asking friends & family. Food will be provided by Chickies Italian Deli.

Building an Effective Business Website
Tuesday, April 19, 12-1:30 PM
An online presence is a must these days for businesses. Kim Paschen, Marketing Specialist for YIKES, Inc. will present tips and tricks for building an effective business website. Learn from her experience developing custom web solutions for area businesses and nonprofits, and plan your own website in this hands-on workshop! Participants will “construct their own wireframes” and sketch layouts of their website using paper, pens, and other art supplies provided. Make sure to bring a few copies of your logo to include in the plans! Light food will be provided by A Full Plate Catering.

Social Media Strategy, Enabling the Eco-System
Tuesday, April 19, 6-8 PM
Angel Rodriguez of Empowerment Group and Benjamin Barnett of The Media Bureau, a digital media agency, will discuss methods for enabling an effective social media strategy. This workshop at will present strategies and tactics for entrepreneurs who wish to take advantage of social media as a marketing tool. It will consider the role of marketing in a digital networked world, support new approaches to marketing, and present practical tips for shaping online campaigns. This session will be led by Angel Rodriguez (Empowerment Group) and Benjamin Barnett (Media Bureau). Participants will receive hand-outs.

City Compliance, Navigating the Business Startup

Calling all entrepreneurs! Empowerment Group and the Free Library of Philadelphia will once again team up to host the Small Business Resource Fair, a “one stop shop” for entrepreneurs. Browse the tables of representatives from local and state government agencies, nonprofits, and business to business service providers. Learn how these resources can help your small business and make valuable connections in the process. Meet and network with a range of business-to-business service providers. Discover the resources to make your small business the best it can be. One-on-one consulting will also be available during the Resource Fair.

How to Present Your Business in 30 Seconds

Meet us in Northern Liberties at Art Star Gallery, where Michael Edmonson will discuss the art of the elevator speech. Network and mingle with your business peers as you work with them to develop a 30 second business presentation. Food will be provided by Mazag Cafe.

Come out and support local entrepreneurs at this community dinner and business micro-grant competition. At the dinner, 5-10 entrepreneurs will be selected to present their business and the specific need they have for funding. Community members will pay a sliding scale ($10-$20) for a dinner and will vote for the project they feel is most worthy of funding. This event is strictly RSVP only. Dinner provided by Miss Rachel’s Pantry.
Closing Celebration: EG Stake
Thursday, April 21, 7-9 PM
Empowerment Group will also premier the first film in a series based on the Entrepreneurship Training offered by the organization. This video course will eventually be available for purchase on the Empowerment Group website.
