I. Position Summary
The Program Recruiter for the MA in Urban Studies (MAUS) coordinates activities related to the recruitment and tracking of new students.
II. Position Responsibilities
1. Formulates, administers, initiates and maintains enrollment efforts, operational procedures and practices consistent with the goals and objectives of Eastern University.
2. The recruiter will meet and/or exceed sales and recruitment goals by promoting the MA in Urban Studies program.
3. The recruiter will assist in meeting and/or exceed sales and recruitment goals by promoting CCGPS programs.
4. Communicates to prospective students through all stages of the application process, from initial contact to enrollment, in a timely fashion.
5. Effectively prospects across demographic boundaries within community organizations, schools, churches, designated conferences and organizations to expand interest and awareness of Eastern’s educational products.
5. Communicates and maintains contact with prospective individual students, corporate partners, and current students and alumni to encourage prospective referrals, alumni networks, and corporate relations.
6. Drives the marketing efforts of the Urban Studies program, and assists in the marketing of the Urban Studies program through cooperative planning and use of technology.
7. Coordinates and leads Urban Studies recruitment events including Preview Days, Open Houses, conferences and special events.
8. Develops and prepares MAUS recruitment presentations using multi-media aids.
9. Facilitates online information sessions.
10. Participates at CCGPS Open Houses held on weekend or evenings as necessary.
11. Provides and supports group presentations, individual meetings, public relations events, and maintains communication with necessary Eastern University staff.
12. Assists the Director of Urban Studies and collaborates with the office of Corporate and Community Relations in the development and continuation of partnerships.
13. Attends events, and recruitment activities at designated venues to promote the Urban Studies program and Eastern.
14. Utilizes phone, email, database technology, web, and contact management systems to support effective and timely communication. Includes managing the MAUS phone line, website, and e-mail account.
15. Maintains and nourishes strong working relationships with CCGPS departments including the Department of Enrollment Management, career services, student services, financial aid and the alumni association.
16. Oversees print materials inventory and materials to support recruiting.
17. Stays abreast of current industry trends, and competitive analysis as it relates to program offerings.
18. Assists Administrative Coordinator in the coordination of residencies, housing payments, student/faculty travel schedules, ground transportation logistics, orientations and the shipping and distribution of residency materials.
19. Develops and regularly reports statistic, strategic, and comment reports to the Director of Urban Studies (and to Enrollment Management as needed).
20. Attends enrollment management meetings on a regular basis.
21. Attends Urban Studies Department meetings.
22. Participates in weekly meeting with the Director of Urban Studies.
23. Attends and assists in all major Urban Studies events such as the welcome dinner, networking events, fall and spring residencies, research forums and graduation events.
Experience and success as a recruiter in an institution of higher education is preferred. Strong interpersonal and sales skills are required, as well as the ability to attend to details. Strong written and oral communication skills with diverse audiences are also required. Familiarity with Contact Management System (cms) helpful. Must be Internet savvy. Occasional travel around the country or internationally (4-5 times per year) is essential for the accomplishment of the assigned tasks. Some nights and weekends are required. Valid driver’s license and passport required.
III. Status
Staff, full-time, salary, exempt, 12-month, 40 hours per week

V. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic knowledge of Urban Studies (the issues and the language) required. If incumbent does not possess such knowledge upon hire, educational training will be provided and must be mastered during the probationary period. Cross-cultural experience and the ability to communicate to people of varied socio-economic backgrounds and ethnicities are needed. Must possess proven ability to manage details and take initiative. Sales/recruiting skills are important. Person must be able to work flexible hours—some nights, some weekends, some trips. It is essential that the incumbent exhibits an understanding of, and support for, the University’s evangelical Christian mission as well as the Urban Studies mission. Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
