Urban Forestry and Air Quality Workshop

Sponsored in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection

Saturday, January 21st 2006
9am ? 3pm
Awbury Arboretum

Our vision is to create a network of educators with the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to conduct Earth Force community action projects in their schools and communities.

Delaware Valley Earth Force is proud to present a one-day institute for educators in partnership with the Penn State Agricultural Extension, the US EPA, Fairmount Park Commission and other local tree experts. This institute is designed to train educators in Earth Force?s Community Action and Problem Solving teaching strategy and to examine and explore trees and their relationship to air quality and community health. Attending this institute will provide each educator the opportunity to:

{ Experience an interactive approach to learning about trees and air quality
{ Learn about the key health concerns impacted by air quality
{ Investigate the benefits of urban trees and their impact on air quality and community health
{ Explore the stresses placed on trees in an urban environment
{ Hear from experts about the past, present, and future of our urban forest
{ Hear from students who are active in promoting tree planting in their communities
{ Earn Act 48 hours

In return, with on-going support from Earth Force staff and partners, participants will:

{ Implement an Earth Force tree project with support of DVEF staff

Please join us for a day of examination, exploration, and fun. Space is limited so contact Megan today at 215-884-9888 or megan.heckert@verizon.net to register. We look forward to hearing from you!

This would be particularly great for anyone already planning to be involved in a greening project!
