Summary:
The Urban Farm Manager is responsible for the management of designated Teens 4 Good urban farms in partnership with USLA (Urban Sustainability Leadership Academy) and Teens 4 Good youth. The Urban Farm Manager will play a critical role in helping to build a sustainable, youth-led urban farming business. The job includes crop planning, day-to-day management of urban farms, distributing and selling produce, instructing youth in urban agriculture and urban farm management, creating and managing operating budgets of the farm(s), and developing business plans to ensure the sustainability of the farm(s).

Primary Responsibilities:
The Urban Farm Manager is responsible for completing the following tasks in partnership with USLA and Teens 4 Good youth:
• Day-to-day management of urban farm(s) including bed preparation, planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, and other farming tasks
• Crop planning for new seasons
• Preparing farm(s) for winter season
• Managing a hoop house
• Coordinating sales and distribution of produce to clients
• Developing and implementing a business plan to build a sustainable urban farm
• Creating and managing operating budgets for farm(s)
• Tracking and monitoring sales and donations of all produce
• Preparing periodic written reports, both statistical and narrative
• Instructing USLA and T4G youth in urban agriculture and urban farming business
• Supervising USLA youth in managing an urban farm business
• Assisting with daily field operations during the Teens 4 Good summer internship
• Leading and teaching volunteer groups
• Maintaining orderly site(s) for all visitors
• Participating in bi-weekly Federation staff meetings
• Participating in additional programmatic and agency-wide activities as assigned
• Performing other tasks as needed

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required, Highly recommend degree in agriculture, horticulture and/or field directly related to sustainable agriculture
• Minimum three years experience of farming, preferred experience in urban and organic farming
• Experience in building and managing an urban farm business
• Experience in maintenance of a hoop/green house
• At least 2 years of youth development experience
• Experience organizing groups safely and productively

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Passion for sustainable agriculture
• Building, managing and maintaining sustainable urban farms
• Ability to plan, delegate and organize work tasks
• Willing to work a flexible schedule
• Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills to effectively work with a variety of people and personalities; ability to communicate clearly in person and in writing
• Financial management skills – developing and managing operating budgets; monitoring all sales transaction
• Business and Marketing skills
• Ability to work well with youth (i.e. engage, motivate, inspire, teach, discipline youth)
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Working knowledge of computers: Micro Soft Word; Excel. ETO is a plus.

Salary: Competitive hourly wage; commensurate with experience.
