Hosts Auditions for the Uptown Youth Got Talent Show
Beginning Friday, July 26, 6 p.m. at the African American United Fund Conference Center located at 2231 N. Broad St. in Philadelphia, the Uptown Entertainment and Development Corporation (UEDC), owners of the historic Uptown Theater since 2002, will conduct auditions for a fall talent show. First place talent show winners will become members of the Uptown Youth Got Talent 2013-14 ensemble, a program of the theater’s “Young Uptown Around Town” division. The ensemble performs at three UEDC fundraising events where industry professionals are also present. Performances take place at various venues throughout the city until the Uptown Theater renovations are completed.
Uptown Youth Got Talent auditions are for youth ages 13 to 18 who sing, rap, dance (or dance with a crew) or perform spoken word. Each category first place winner will be awarded a $250 prize. Second place prize is a $50 gift card and third place a $25 gift card.
Audition participants are asked to do a 2-minute performance. There is a $10 fee for individual performers to audition. Group fee is $5 per group member. A copy of management agreement required for acts represented by a manager.
Audition dates are as follows:
SAT., AUGUST 10, 1PM
FRI., AUGUST 16, 6PM
SAT., AUGUST 24, 1PM
FRI., AUGUST 30 6PM
The Uptown Youth Got Talent Show is scheduled for Friday, November 8, 6:30 PM, 2231 N. Broad Street. Tickets $5 per adult, $2 children 12 and younger.
