Groundbreaking Ceremony
June 5, 2010
1 to 5 pm
The Groundbreaking for the renovation and restoration of the Uptown Theater will be held on June 5,
2010 in front of the theater at 2240 N Broad Street from 1pm to 5pm. The Groundbreaking will start the second phase of the renovation project that is the Education and Entertainment Tower. This phase will be completed by fall 2010 and when completed is expected to house the offices of the Uptown Entertainment & Development Corporation, serve as the program headquarters for the Art and Education Youth Program sponsored by the Uptown Entertainment & Development Corporation; provide sound studio space; house a catering facility and office space.
Guests will include State Senator Shirley Kitchen; Co-Chairs of the Entertainers Committee, Earl Young, founder of the Trammps and Jazz Musician Alfie Pollitt.
