Uplift Center for Grieving Children, located in Philadelphia, PA, provides peer support groups for children and their caregivers grieving the death of someone close to them. Uplift provides grief support groups in schools during the day, at partnering organizations, and at our sites in the evenings, as well as training for professionals who work with children and families. All grief support groups are free. Uplift is seeking a dynamic, team-oriented clinician with experience in working directly with children and caregivers who are coping with grief and trauma for a full-time clinical position. Our ideal candidate would be enthusiastic about building and managing relationships, hold anti-racist values, and be dedicated to practicing from an anti-oppression lens.

The Uplift Clinician is responsible for implementing grief support groups virtually and in person with children and caregivers. This position requires working some evenings and possibly some hours on the weekend.

Core Duties:

  • Implement and facilitate grief support programs for children and caregivers virtually and at designated in-person sites in Philadelphia, when appropriate.
  • Leading, monitoring and/or facilitating groups while supporting and possibly mentoring volunteers and interns. Assist in supervising volunteers and student interns and providing pre- and post-group support, education and management onsite, in accordance with professional guidelines and regulations.
  • Conducting engagement, information, psychoeducation, and enrollment for families interested in grief services.
  • Ongoing development, implementation, review, and evaluation of group curriculum.
  • Maintain attendance and evaluation databases.
  • Provide phone support check-ins and referrals for enrolled families.
  • Development and implementation of program activities, practices and procedures through collaboration with other staff and committee work.
  • Development and facilitation of alternative activities for children, caregivers and the community such as Art Night, parent/caregiver workshops, grief trainings, holiday workshops, and other organizational special events.
  • Attend and provide support for fundraising events including participation in foundation site visits, providing data necessary for grant proposals and reports, and attendance at the fundraising events, including but not limited to An Uplifting Evening and Golf Invitational.
  • Stay up to date on current literature and research in bereavement and children’s development literature.
  • Present/co-present at trainings to professionals and caregivers, as needed.
  • Attend general staff, program and clinical team meetings throughout the year, as necessary.
  • Attend and provide support at all program-related events for Uplift’s children and families, including holiday parties, family nights, and other special events throughout the year.
