Unit Director, Boys and Girls Clubs of Philadelphia
Under general supervision, the Unit Director is primarily concerned with the overall program and building operations of an assigned Unit. This includes the areas of planning, coordination, implementation, and supervision of program personnel and building maintenance. Administrative duties also fall within the Unit Director responsibilities. This position will ensure the training of all program staff, manage program budgets, develop and coordinate new programs and activities related to the core service areas of the Boys & Girls Clubs programming. In addition, the Unit Director must feel comfortable working in an inner-city community. The Director will be expected to actively engage with the neighborhood youth and community members.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervises the full-time and part-time employees and volunteers
- Plans, develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates the programs of the Club
- Recruits and handles orientation of new members and membership growth.
- Provides in-service training programs for professional staff and volunteers.
- Composes required statistical and progress reports regarding the programs’ attendance and membership when requested by the Director of Education and Training or the Executive Program Officer.
- Coordinates career exploration, court referral, work-study, and summer youth employment programs and assumes responsibility for overall training, supervision, and placement as well as a volunteer recruitment program.
- Supervises the maintenance and care of all facilities, equipment, and Club vehicles.
- Meets established schedules/deadlines as part of a normal routine; accepts a variety of daily activities while maintaining high accuracy requirements.
- Setting standards: Leadership position where performance and overall organization expectations are modeled.
- Assist in the transportation of kids including, but not limited to, driving, van aides, and walking escorts when necessary.
