Dear Sir/Madam:
The students of University City High School, who have been assisted by the HUD fellows from the Urban Planning Program at Penn, are planning to do a presentation on their collaborative project, ‘building a food co-op’. The 11th grade students of the Leadership Class in the Eco-Tech Small Learning Community have been putting together an action plan since September 2002 on building a food co-op on Lancaster Avenue. Our plan is to help develop a food cooperative that will serve our community with nutritious, organic, and healthy food. We have put together our plan based on the lives of the people living in and around the community of University City High School.
We would like to invite you to our presentation on Tuesday, June 3, 2003. The presentation will begin at 5:00 P.M. sharp. Please RSVP Martin Galvin or Tiffany House at 215-387-5100, ext. 2291 or by email at MartinGalvin02@hotmail.com.
Please join the Eco-Tech students and the Center for Community Partnerships at the University of Pennsylvania for an evening of discussion with West Philadelphia business leaders and food advocates about the possibility of developing a food cooperative in our community.
Thank you,
The Food Co-op Leadership Team
