DEDICATED TUTORS WANTED!
Teachers at Benjamin Franklin High School, a low-income school in the Center-City Region of Philadelphia School District, are seeking qualified and committed college student volunteers to provide support to students in various academic subjects (math, science, English, world & US history, etc.)
Volunteer tutors are needed starting from mid-September during after-school hours (from 3:15 ? 4:30 pm), as well as during school hours (8:05 am ? 3:10 pm) to provide teachers with in-class assistance. We are looking for tutors who:
? Are willing to commit at least 2 hours a week (either over one day or two days/week) for at least one quarter or 10 weeks (semester-long or year-long commitments would be most welcome)
? Have proficient knowledge of some or most high school academic subjects
? Are open to receiving coaching about tutoring strategies
? Are committed to helping students achieve & to serve as role models
Benjamin Franklin HS is located on 550 N. Broad St., at the intersection of Broad & Spring Garden, and is accessible by Orange Line train (2 stops north of City Hall), or by bus C that runs along Broad St.
