The Tutoring Support Specialist is an essential position that provides leadership and direction for the Tutoring Support Services Program. This includes Subject Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction (SI) and Facilitated Study Groups (FSG), which contribute directly to student success. She/he is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, scheduling, professional development and oversight of approximately 40 peer and professional tutors who work to provide students one-on-one, small group, and online support for courses across the curriculum. The Tutoring Support Specialist works closely with the Associate Director of the Center for Academic Achievement and Writing Support Specialist in managing the day-to-day operations of the Tutoring Support Services Program. The Tutoring Support Specialist communicates regularly with students, faculty, department chairs, and staff members across the University. She/he must also manage the Tutoring Support Services’ budget and effectively market services. Other responsibilities include assessing student needs; developing and expanding services; and ensuring that tracking, reporting, and scheduling systems are effective.
