Reports To: Administrative Superior
Job Summary
Tutors students in assigned schools by asking and answering questions related to the subject. Increases and enhances the mastery of concepts or applications of a particular course of study.
Essential Functions
• Under the guidance of an administrative superior:
• Asks and answers academic questions, using examples related to a particular subject; may tutor individuals or small groups.
• Establishes standards and goals for tutoring; maintains effective organization.
• Integrates effective study and learning strategies to maximize the student’s academic potential.
• Attends staff development sessions as required.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Demonstrated ability to:
o learn the methods and materials appropriate to the level and area of tutoring.
o learn to plan and prepare for tutoring sessions.
o communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
o establish and maintain effective working relationships.
