… learn to plant and care for trees in your community!
Join our Course in Community Tree Tending!

Become part of the “growing” TreeVitalize movement, a program designed by Pennsylvania’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) to increase Southeast Pennsylvania’s tree cover and the benefits that trees offer us all. Join us for 9 hours of hands-on training that will cover tree biology, identification, planting, proper care and working within your community. This training course was developed by staff from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and Penn State Cooperative Extension and is designed for lay people and experts alike. The course is being offered on weekday evenings at two different locations this spring. Become one of the TreeVitalizers, who are expanding (or creating) and tending your part of the forest.

Locations:
Montgomery County: Curtis Arboretum
Church Road & Greenwood Avenue, Wyncote
May 19, 26 and June 1, 6 to 9 pm
or
Bucks County: Silver Lake Nature Center
1306 Bath Road, Bristol
June 16, 23 and 30, 6 to 9 pm

This Hands on Training includes: Tree Awareness with sessions covering
* Tree Biology,
* Urban Stresses on Trees,
* Tree Identification,
* Basic Tree Pruning and Root Care, and
* Tree Planting and Community Organizing with
* Fundraising and Identifying Resources,
* Working with Local Government and
* Organization Building

Registration is required. The $12 cost for the three-part series covers a light meal, instructors, and all materials.
