About the opportunity
Springboard Collaborative invites talented and passionate candidates to apply for the position of Translation Manager. The Translation Manager will be responsible for overseeing Springboard’s translation work, ensuring our family materials are translated with accuracy and cultural awareness. The successful candidate will be a hands-on and participative multi-tasker with the willingness to learn new tools, work with materials, systems, and people in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. The Translation Manager will report to the Communications Coordinator. This is a tremendous opportunity to support an entrepreneurial team in maximizing the impact of a rapidly growing, high-performing organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners
  • Maintain relationship with translators & translation service
  • Build and maintain relationships with translation reviewers
  • Recruit translation reviewers
  • Manage translation budget
  • Put quotes and invoices through internal processes
  • Maintain budget-tracking system
  • Track documents from beginning to end
  • Maintain internal request project and initiate translation projects
  • When document has been translated, send to translation reviewer to ensure accuracy and appropriateness for audience
  • Utilize internal cloud services to save and share finalized documents
  • Review feedback from families and other external partners
  • Review feedback from partners (families, school partners, etc.)
  • Communicate suggestions with external translation services
  • Respond to emails from partners with translation feedback

Compensation & hours:
This is a part-time job. We expect the Translation Manager to work 5-10 hours/week.

Required skills, qualifications, and characteristics:

  • Access to working computer with internet and ability to access Dropbox, Asana, & email
  • Experience working in basic computer applications (Word, Excel, & Google Suite)
  • Attentiveness: attention to detail; careful and thorough
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Relationship-building skills: An ability to negotiate and to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Commitment to excellence: Willingness to double-check work and to actively seek ways to improve work
