TD Charitable Foundation Offers Grants to Nonprofits Focusing on Transitional Housing and Homeless Shelter Projects
Deadline: August 31, 2012
The TD Charitable Foundation has announced that it will award $2.5 million in grants in 2012 to transitional housing and homeless shelter projects and initiatives through its seventh annual Housing for Everyone grant competition.
The competition is the TD Charitable Foundation’s signature program and is designed to bolster affordable housing efforts in communities served by TD Bank. The competition invites local nonprofit organizations from Maine to Florida to submit proposals in which the organizations outline their plans to address the most acute affordable housing needs in their communities.
Twenty-five organizations in TD Bank’s service area will each be awarded a $100,000 grant.
This year’s theme is transitional housing and homeless shelters, with a focus on projects that expand the availability of and/or access to transitional housing and/or homeless shelters. Applications for funding must address homeless shelters, facilities that provide temporary housing, and/or facilities that provide a variety of other services, including but not limited to soup kitchens, substance abuse counselors, job training, etc.; and/or transitional housing that is intended to provide the support needed for temporary occupants to move into long-term housing and is usually offered as part of a broader spectrum of services or programs that may provide but is not limited to counseling, job training, childcare, skills training, and healthcare assistance.
Organizations that wish to enter the 2012 competition must have tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status; develop or maintain affordable housing or provide housing-related programs and services to low- to moderate-income individuals or families; and serve communities where TD Bank does business. Applicant organizations must also demonstrate fiscal responsibility and the impact they have made on affordable housing efforts in their communities.
Visit the TD Bank Web site for complete program guidelines and application procedures.
