Transitional General Manager, Mariposa Food Co-op

Posted by Mariposa Food Co-op on November 9, 2015

We are excited to announce that Mariposa Food Co-op is now accepting applications for the position of Transitional General Manager (TGM) for our rapidly growing Philadelphia store!

Mariposa Food Co-op is a cooperative grocery store owned by its members and open to the public seven days a week. We have over 2,000 active members and operate on a consensus-seeking basis. Our mission is to provide residents of West Philadelphia and beyond with access to and information about food, especially healthy, locally grown or otherwise sustainably-produced products.

Since our expansion in 2012, we have consistently exceeded our sales projections, more than tripled our membership, and quadrupled our staff. For most of our 40+ years of operation, we have been collectively managed, but recently implemented an interim co-management team to address some of the challenges associated with rapid staff and sales growth. At this point, we are seeking a longer-term Transitional General Manager who can meet financial, operational, and strategic planning goals while working with staff to design and implement a new, sustainable democratic management structure. This position will begin in the spring of 2016 and will be contracted through the end of 2019 with compensation and benefits negotiated with Mariposa’s Board of Delegates. See the attached job description for a fuller outline of the TGM’s responsibilities and duties.

Please forward this call for applications to others you think would be interested in this unique opportunity. We greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply! The job description and application process can be found on our website. Applicants should submit a cover letter, résumé, salary history, and answers to the application questions to vice-convener@mariposa.coop by December 4, 2015.
