GENERAL DEFINITION
The primary relationship for Participants in the Transitional Work Corporation?s Program, Philadelphia@Work (P@W), is a Career Advisor or CA. CAs work on an employment team consisting of Orientation Career Advisors, Transitional Career Advisors, Retention Career Advisors, Salespersons and Facilitators and report to a Team Director.
Transitional Career Advisors guide the participant through the transitional work experience, help them get their lives organized around work and practice the professional behavior expected in a work environment (e.g. regular attendance, performance at work, communication with managers and colleagues). Transitional Career Advisors serve as frontline supervisors and job coaches and manage a caseload of 35 participants in transitional employment at worksites in nonprofit organizations throughout the City of Philadelphia.
The Retention Career Advisor supports the participant during the participant?s employment placement for the first six months from the participant?s date of hire. Retention Career Advisors manage a caseload of permanently placed participants. The work includes contacting all retention participants weekly and conducting bi-weekly face-to-face meetings with retention participants to provide feedback and guidance to the individual. Responsibilities include maintaining case management files on individual participants and providing management with appropriate reports on participant status when requested. The Retention Career Advisor manages a caseload of approximately 35 participants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization?s mission, that being to enable TWC participants to become placed in and retain employment for at least six months after placement.
? General Case Management:
o Meet regularly with participant to coach the participant on succeeding in transitional and unsubsidized employment.
o Ensure all appropriate documentation is complete and timely filed into the participant case file.
o Review and complete the Employment Development and Retention Plan (EDRP) with participants bi-weekly.
o Ensure that participants meet all participant obligations ? attendance at work, and professional development.
? Facilitate the Transitional and Unsubsidized Work Experience:
o Meet with participants regularly to support the participant in their work.
o Conduct two site visits at the participant?s work site and complete monthly progress report (MPR) for each participant.
o Conduct and document periodic assessments of participant progress.
o Ensure that participants regularly collect their placement bonuses and trans-passes.
o Communicate with and obtain feedback from the work sites.
? Refer participants to external support organizations where appropriate.
? Serve as backup for all Employment Team members.
? Attend and participate in all staff and team weekly meetings.
? Distribute trans-passes and checks to participants during extended hours.
? Perform other work as assigned.
