Transforming Lives Through The Creative Arts

BuildaBridge Institute is a training and applied research academy designed to prepare practitioners to integrate the arts effectively in education, and community and human development. The Institute is an intensive 5 day experience that provides opportunities for professional growth through learning about arts-based tools for healing and empowerment, and efficient ways to implement them to better serve those in need.

Who should attend?: artists, teachers, social service professionals, youth workers, community and congregational leaders, non-profit personnel.

The Institute offers

Two simultaneous track courses from June 6-10 that includes foundational theory, arts education, community arts management, applied arts intervention methods and art skills
One-day training courses on June 11 featuring psychological first aid and arts relief and the newest addition, Introduction to Restorative Practices.
An Alumni Symposium featuring Institute alumni and their experiences utilizing what they learned in their work, field or program

Participants of Track 1 and Track 2 courses will also attend Skills Development Workshops in different art modalities (drumming, drama, visual arts, music, storytelling, etc.), and integrated site visits where they can observe and assist a master teacher in a direct arts service program with youth/seniors in a local shelter/nursing home. BuildaBridge Institute is Eastern University’s instructional partner in offering the M.A. in Urban Arts, Arts in Transformation Concentration. BuildaBridge Institute Facts

Since 2007, the Institute has partnered with Eastern University’s School for Social Change to offer a Master’s Degree in Urban Studies, Arts in Transformation Concentration. For details visit http://www.eastern.edu.
Since inception in 2002, the Institute has trained more than 525 professionals worldwide, and has attracted a faculty of 85 professionals in the field.
The Institute is not just a source of information, but also a platform to build social capital and inspire new ideas through a sense of belonging to the world of social service.
