Transformational Intergroup Dialogue Facilitation

Transformational Intergroup Dialogue is a powerful approach that supports participants in uncovering their real thoughts and feelings in relation to issues of diversity and social identity like race, class, gender, sexual orientation and ability issues. Participants are taken through a process to support them in addressing some of their own biases to communicate authentically with others in the room. This helps to build trust and allow for participants to engage with the real people in the room, not their societal representations. Participants both experience and learn this approach to apply to their diversity work. This training is relevant for educators, managers, and leaders of diverse groups.

Transformational Intergroup Dialogue Facilitation is a training offered over three separate, sequential workshops. Each workshop is offered over two consecutive days and will take place between 9:30am and 4:30pm. Here are the dates for upcoming workshops: ​

Part One: Introduction to Transformational Intergroup Dialogue: Aug 2 and 3, 2018
Experience how transformational intergroup dialogue improves understanding and relationships between groups
Develop an awareness of one’s own obstacles to facilitating, teaching, leading and managing diverse groups

Part Two: Overcoming the Obstacles to Intergroup Engagement: Aug 6 and 7, 2018
Learn tools to manage the fears, mistrust and social violence in intergroup settings
Minimize one’s fears during intergroup interactions as a participant or in a position of leadership

Part Three: Moving from Social Violence to Constructive Conflict: Aug 8 and 9, 2018
Engaging the dialogue process through facilitating mini-dialogues
Receiving feedback on facilitation skills

You can register for just one, two or all three workshops. Registration deadline for all trainings is July 19, 2018. The workshops must be taken in sequence.
