Trainer, Nutrition Education – Implements training programs for students, educational and administrative staff and parents. Provides awareness of the concepts of nutrition education to develop proper nutrition and eating habits.
Essential Functions
- Implements nutrition education training programs and training modules for all school-age children; works with children and parents to develop proper nutrition and eating habits.
- Prepares food items needed for taste testing or sampling.
- Organizes and participates in workshops for nutrition education; develops methods of presentation.
- Conducts demonstration lessons for individual classroom teachers as requested.
- Conducts nutrition education training for teachers, nurses and school-based administrative staff.
- Conducts parent workshops in schools on basic nutrition concepts.
- Collects and properly completes match documentation for program sustainability.
- Administers evaluative tools for nutrition education programs to assist with the evaluation of program effectiveness.
- Summarizes data on all nutrition education program interventions into monthly, quarterly and final reports.
- Monitors the effectiveness of the nutrition education program through the achievement of departmental objectives.
- Acts as a liaison for School Health/Wellness Councils.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the nutrition education field.
