Trade Adjustment Assistance and Community College & Career Training
Posted by on April 30, 2012
Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Judi Greif, the Career Coach for CCP’s TAACCCT (Trade Adjustment Assistance and community College & Career Training) education grant program. CCP, along with the other 13 community colleges in Pennsylvania, received a 3 year grant from the DOL to create short-term courses to train, re-train and/or enhance skills for unemployed or dislocated workers in key up and coming fields. CCP will focus on 2 areas: Energy Conservation and Advanced Manufacturing.
The Energy Conservation classes will include very short-term classes (2-7 days) for Building Analyst, Multi-family Analyst, Envelope Professional and Building Operator, each of which provides each successful student with the opportunity to sit for the BPI certification exam. We also will be offering a 2 week class for LEED certification.
The second area we are offering a class for is Advanced Manufacturing. This will be a 400 hour course over 12 weeks and will provide AMIST Level 1 certification upon successful completion.
All of these courses will be offered this year and in each of the next 2 grant years (our grant years run from October 1st to September 30). All classes are free. There is no tuition or exam expense for qualified applicants. Please feel free to pass this information along. We are actively recruiting for candidates Interested candidates should contact Ms. Atiya Pope at 215-496-6148.
