Tools for Tenants in Philly during the COVID-19 Pandemic
Posted by tools4tenantsPHL on March 31, 2020
Are you nervous about paying rent on April 1? So are we. We made this site to help impacted renters feel supported, build community, and to provide tools to empower collective action.
Information has been changing moment to moment since the onset of this crisis. The president has called for mailing checks to each citizen, freezes on mortgage payments and more. Lots of people are talking about rent strikes, and city council is in initial discussions around instituting a city-wide rent moratorium. As all of this is a lot to sift through, we’ve attempted to gather the most up-to-date information and resources for renters in Philadelphia. We are in communication with the Philadelphia Tenants Union and other organizations around the city. We hope that in preparing for April 1st, we can begin to build momentum as we get organized for May 1st and beyond. Below are some tools you can utilize right now to build community in your building as well as the latest news about city and nation-wide policy. We will update this page daily as new mandates go into effect and more resources are made available.
