University of Missouri – St. Louis to Host Civic Action Planning Institute
We are excited to announce our third Civic Action Planning Institute will be held at the University of Missouri – St. Louis!
Are you ready to get to work and join the 400+ colleges and universities that have signed Campus Compact’s 30th Anniversary Action Statement and made commitments to develop campus civic action plans in the year ahead?
We hope you will join us for one of three fall Civic Action Planning Institutes, created for you, and organized throughout the country to provide planning teams with inspiration, information, and time to share resources and ideas for leveraging existing campus infrastructure for engagement and for boldly exploring new areas and opportunities for impact.

The agenda will include:
- overview of principles and goals of the 30th Anniversary Action Statement
- introduction to campus civic action planning processes
- exploration of key planning concepts:
- asset orientation
- meaning of community engagement
- capacity building
- systems and policy change
- culture change
- integration of teaching, research and institutional action
- maximizing student and community impact
Sessions will include large group discussion as well as team planning time.
Please note that one institute, offered in partnership with ETS, will have a special focus on integrating high-quality assessment of student civic learning and development into Campus Civic Action Plans. Campus Compact member institutions whose president or chancellor has signed the Campus Compact 30th Anniversary Action Statement are eligible to attend (it’s never too late to sign !). We are seeking three-person teams that include at least one senior academic administrator and one faculty member or administrator directly responsible for civic engagement and learning.
There is no registration fee; breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. Institutions are responsible for their own travel and lodging costs.
