literacy volunteers needed, RSVP of Montgomery County

Posted by on June 17, 2013

At United Way, we know that in order to become proficient readers by 3rd grade, students need a minimum of 30 minutes of reading practice everyday. RSVP supports and equips volunteers to help students read proficiently by the 4th grade through their Family Literacy and America Reads programs. RSVP is currently seeking volunteers to assist with both programs.

Family Literacy Program: Volunteers will assist Head Start centers by reading to a class, small group or one-on-one with a child. Contact Janis Glusman, Volunteer Coordinator, at [email protected] or (610) 834-1040 EXT 16 for more information.

America Reads: Volunteers will serve as reading coaches to school-aged students in need of improved reading proficiency. Contact Marion Silver, Volunteer Coordinator, at [email protected] or (610) 834-1040 EXT 27 for more information.
