The Power of Play @ The Lenfest Center – October 24, 2013
This workshop is a well-vetted tactical workshop that builds skills, tools and confidence in adults providing play and recess with young people. The Power of Play workshop sets the foundation for creating a safe and healthy play area with core recess games and an understanding of the barriers and benefits of play and physical activity. Highlights of some of the topics to be explored include: choosing the type of game, adult participation, laying the foundation for inclusion and respect, intervening and interrupting unhealthy situations, positive and inclusive language, gender, competition, and choosing teams. Participants should come dressed in play clothes and sneakers. You will be very active throughout the course of the workshop. Bring a water bottle to keep hydrated. This is a unique opportunity for DHS-OST programs.
