The Challenge of Solidarity: Service and Immersion in San Lucas Tolimán (In-Person & Virtual) – Jun 3
Posted by Cabrini University on April 18, 2023
Cabrini University will be hosting a mini-summit on best practices in immersion trips based on our work with the Mission in San Lucas Tolimán. Anyone who has led or participated in an immersion or service trip in the past, or is planning to attend or lead one is encouraged to attend!
This free conference will celebrate the long-standing partnerships built between universities in the United States and the Mision San Lucas Tolimán in Guatemala, exploring ways to build and deepen international immersion experiences.
The morning will consist of two tracks—one focused on logistics for people who are relatively new to immersion experiences, and one for more experienced participants which examines options for deepening engagement before, during, and after a trip. The afternoon features workshops on a variety of strategies for building long-term relationships and impact with host communities. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
The Challenge of Solidarity will present a vision for engagement that goes beyond one-off visits, but instead is rooted in the forms of solidarity and integral human development described by Catholic Social Teaching.
NOTE: Registration options include in-person and virtual attendance.
Date and Time: Saturday, June 3, 2023, 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Location: Cabrini University, 610 King of Prussia Road, Radnor, PA 19087
