The Billion Dollar School Infrastructure Question: Understanding Challenges, Exploring Opportunities – Jun 6
Posted by Philadelphia Education Fund on May 28, 2019
Philadelphia is an old city with an aging infrastructure – and our schools are not exempt.
While the capital investment needs of the School District of Philadelphia grab headlines and challenge all of us who care about our public schools to consider ways in which we might be able to help, it is clear that solving this problem is not just expensive, but complex.
With no one ready to hand over a $5 billion check to make all these problems go away, how are decisions to be made? What are near term and critical concerns for which we need immediate responses? And, what strategies are required to support the staging of longer-term solutions?
Of course, when it comes to the infrastructure question, there are many more factors that further complicate the decision-making process. It is valuable to understand them and to also hear some hopeful messages around solutions that partners are putting in place to help.
Join us this June for a look into our local school infrastructure challenge, with our special guests Danielle Floyd, from the School District of Philadelphia, and the architects of the PFT Healthy Schools Tracker, David Masur and Jerry Roseman.
