TEDx Brings Big Ideas to Arcadia University, April 2

What’s the big idea? Find out when Arcadia University hosts “The Big Idea” TEDx Conference on Sunday, April 2, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Great Room, where speakers from around the region will share their inspiration for change.

Speakers will include Arcadia’s own 2016 Big Idea Competition winner Deb Gilmore ’19, who will speak on her sustainability initiative, Waste.EDu; HEART 9/11 Founder Bill Keegan, who will discuss the emotional support of emergency response teams, and the challenges he faced helping the recovery teams of Sept. 11, 2001; The Baby Bureau Founder Fran Wasserman, who will discuss how she turned a pile of baby clothing donations into a 501(c)3 organization that helps babies in need; and autism advocate and writer Robert Naseef, who will discuss his psychology work with autistic children and their families.

The conference will be split up into three two-hour sessions: from 10 a.m. to noon, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., and 3 to 5 p.m. Each session will feature speakers who have “big ideas” that address issues throughout the country, with several students hosting their own TEDTalks.

TEDx is an independent, community run conference event that celebrates local ideas. TED is a nonprofit lecture organization that began in 1984 and primarily focuses on “Technology, Entertainment, and Design.”

This event is open to the public. General admission is $12 per session, or $30 for an all day pass. Non-Arcadia students will be charged $7 per session, or $20 for an all day pass. Groups of ten students or more will pay $3 per ticket, per session.
