Summary:
Legacy Youth Tennis and Education (formerly Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education), a long-standing nonprofit organization in the City of Philadelphia, is in search of experienced, fun and energetic part-time Tennis Instructors for a number of our neighborhood-based afterschool programs. Programs are located at schools and recreation centers throughout Philadelphia and Camden. Tennis Instructors must bring a high level of competency and motivation to work in a recreational tennis environment. More importantly, candidates must share a passion for young people.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Provide on-court tennis programming
• Deliver life skills or leadership discussion curriculum
• Promote enthusiasm among participants and help ensure quality programming
• Demonstrate good judgment and resolve disciplinary problems
• Complete program administrative duties and maintain equipment
• Participate in evaluations of programs and participants as needed
Required Skills and Experience:
• 3 years of tennis coaching experience or competitive tennis play required
• Certification with PTR or USPTA preferred
• Experience working with youth in a recreational setting
• Ability to manage groups efficiently and effectively
• Strong leadership skills
• Ability to be a positive role model to participants
• Demonstrated reliability and responsibility
• Valid driver’s license and access to a car strongly preferred
Hours and Compensation:
Positions available for one to five afternoons per week (2-15 hours), depending on candidate’s availability. Compensation ranges from $15.00/hour to $20.00/hour depending on program budget and candidate’s experience. Some positions may roll into full-time summer positions.
