Join us for a discussion of how to successfully pair Environmental Education and Service-Learning for a quality environmental service-learning Experience. We will discuss the natural affinities between the two fields and effective professional development strategies for educators who want to combine them in their teaching.

Staff of FrontRange Earth Force, a Denver-based non-profit organization specializing in Environmental Education, Civic Engagement and Service-Learning for over eight years, will preside.

Joined by a panel of experts in the facilitation of, and professional development around, environmental service-learning:

? Vince Meldrum: Executive Director – Earth Force, Inc. Vince has over 20 years experience in education and non-profit work. As President of Earth Force, he works with communities across the country to engage young people as meaningful participants in the civic process while also improving the communities where they live and work.

? Alyssa Hawkins: Program Director – GREEN (Global Rivers Environmental Education Network). As director of the GREEN program, Alyssa facilitates community-corporate partnerships throughout the country in an effort to introduce young people to watershed issues in their area. Her background is in education and environmental studies, with an emphasis in water resources.

? Sister Pat Lupo: Program Director ? Lake Erie-Allegheny Earth Force. Pat is an environmental educator and advocate. She works with 2-5 year olds and their caregivers, students and teachers in K-12, pre-service and in-service educators, and watershed citizens. Pat?s ministry links environmental education, stewardship, civic responsibility, and spirituality.

? Nicole Tembrock: Assistant Director ? Denver Public Schools Office of = Character and School Culture. Nicole worked in education and youth development for over twelve years. She has provided professional development and technical assistance to educators in both Environmental Education and Service-Learning.

There will be plenty of time for questions and open discussion.
