Technology Apprenticeship Coordinator, Urban Technology Project

Qualifications:
Education and Experience
• Minimum associates degree in I.T., bachelors preferred.
• Minimum 4 years work experience in I.T.
• Minimum 2 years experience as technical trainer
• Experience working with disadvantaged populations (youth preferred)

Certifications
• CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Net +
• Apple Care Technician and Apple Care Support Essentials
• Microsoft certifications preferred

Skills/Interests
• Interest in improving technology skills of disadvantaged populations
• Superb organization skills and ability to multi-task
• Ability to train large groups and to create lesson plans
• Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with diverse groups of people

Compensation:
Minimum of $32,000 with benefits
Start date: July/August 2009

Responsibilities
As the Technical Apprenticeship Coordinator, primary responsibilities derive from the implementation of the Technology Learning Plan for UTP members. This Technology Learning Plan includes I.T. Industry Certification trainings as well as technical trainings that better prepare members for their field placements. The Technical Apprenticeship Coordinator reports directly to the CSS Program Supervisor.

Primary Responsibilities
• Actively monitor the progress of UTP members in achieving Technology competencies according to the UTP Technology Learning Plans for DSF and CSS (DSF Technology Learning Plan and CSS I.T. Apprenticeship Pathway), and to make individualized adjustments when needed.
• Create lesson plans and provide trainings for the following certifications for the Digital Service Fellows: International Computer Drivers License, AppleCare Support Essentials and CompTIA A+, and to actively monitor this progress.
• Conduct weekly site visits to both DSFs and CSSs to ensure that technology learning benchmarks are being met in the field.
• Ensure that members of UTP are communicating appropriately and effectively with staff at their placement sites to provide high quality technology support services.
• Provide customer service training to UTP members as it relates to the I.T. field (corporate,non-profit, school etc.)
• Keep abreast of current and emerging technology trends, and update UTP Technology Learning Plans and provide turn around training when appropriate.

Additional Responsibilities
• Coordinate and manage School District technology projects that require UTP staff member assistance and participation.
• Assist Direct Service Coordinator in the implementation and oversight of technology clubs at schools and other sites.
• Assist with soft skills training for all members to improve their ability to work successfully in an I.T. environment and in schools.
• Work with UTP management to coordinate, enforce and improve program protocols and processes.
