What’s the Day of Service?
The Day of Service is an opportunity for nonprofit techies to give something back to nonprofit organizations while they attend the national Nonprofit Technology Conference in Philadelphia. Local nonprofits with a technology project that can be addressed in a single day are matched with teams of nonprofit techies who possess the appropriate skill sets. This year, we plan to match 30 nonprofit organizations with nearly 100 volunteers. We also provide several workshops that local nonprofits can attend free of charge.
When is the Day of Service?
This year, Day of Service takes place on Thursday, March 25, 2004. Volunteers and their groups will meet at the conference hotel in Center City Philadelphia at 8am to start the day. Volunteers will then work on-site at your organization for most of the day.
What kind of help do the nonprofits get?
The volunteers are equipped to do informal software training, networking/system upgrades, or a technology mini-assessment or planning consult. The project will be tailored to meet each organization?s needs and can be accomplished within a few hours on site.
My organization needs a volunteer. How do I get one?
You need to fill out a brief online assessment form, sign a memo of understanding about your project based on a brief phone interview, transport your volunteers to and from your office, and provide lunch for them. To sign up, Go to http://mailhost.groundspring.org/cgi-bin/t.pl?id=46330:1061641 and click on the link to the TechAtlas form where you will provide contact information and complete a brief technology assessment. You will be contacted by phone by the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania to identify your project so that Day of Service organizers can match your organization with an appropriate volunteer.
Where can I get a flyer with all the details?
