TEACHERS: A new kind of school is opening in Philadelphia – and we are now hiring our founding teachers! KIPP Philadelphia Charter School is a proposed college preparatory middle school modeled after the acclaimed KIPP academies in Houston, Texas and the South Bronx, New York. KPCS will be opening its doors to 80-90 fifth graders in an academically underserved area of Philadelphia in July 2003, and will ultimately serve approximately 320 students in grades five through eight. The school day is from 7:30am-5:00pm. Saturday school is held twice a month from 9:00am ? 1:00pm and summer school is held for four weeks during July. We are looking for teachers who believe strongly in the school?s core values of respect, achievement, hard work, teamwork, and commitment. If you are committed to the philosophy that ALL your students WILL learn, and you believe that there are no shortcuts to achieving excellence, KIPP Philadelphia Charter School may be the school for you.

Qualifications
Required: At least two years of teaching experience, willingness to work towards Pennsylvania State certification, commitment to working with underserved students, commitment to the design and development of KPCS during its start up years.

Prefered: Pennsylvania Certification (I or II), Masters in Education/Teaching or content area, bilingual (especially Spanish), experience teaching in an urban school.
