Teacher Workshop on 18th Century African-American Life
In this workshop teachers will examine African American life and interests in 18th-century Philadelphia. The ideals of “liberty” and “freedom”expressed by Philadelphia Quakers and by our nation’s Founders will be
compared with the daily lives and realities of 18th century African Americans. Teachers will discover methods of sharing this rich history with their students.
This workshop will include:
Walking tours of Historic Sites
Discussions with leading Scholars
Opportunities to Collaborate with other Educators to Develop Lessons
Lunch will be provided each day
Dr. Randall Miller of St. Joseph’s University will serve as the scholar-in-residence for this workshop.
