Responsibilities:
• Instruct from 10-15 ex-offenders in an ABE/Pre-GED class for 8 week cycles.
• Schedule & conduct Pre and Post TABE assessments on all learners.
• Develop curriculum that includes themes relevant to students’ lives, interests, Foundation Skills Framework, and work-related goals.
• Develop assessment plans and tools for documenting learner gains.
• Effectively teach and evaluate students’ knowledge and skills in a work-based skills classroom; Planning lessons in advance using appropriate instructional materials and techniques for developing reading, writing, math and critical thinking skills.
• Coordinate with R.I.S.E. staff, assisting learners to prepare for more permanent employment.
• Demonstrate positive attitudes and positive actions through a display of courtesy, congeniality, cooperation, sensitivity and professionalism.
• Attend all required professional development and program meetings
• Promote student engagement and collaboration in learning..
• Maintain student confidentiality and program integrity in performing all duties.
• Demonstrate positive Grade Level gains and benchmark attainments..
• Perform all related administrative duties and reporting such as: completing timesheets and makeup work plans for participants and submitting monthly reports to the Program Manager for Fee-For Service Initiatives.
• Assist students in preparing for the WorkKeys Certificate through use of KeyTrain software
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate degree commensurate with position a plus.
• Experience working with adults in a workplace educational environment, including customized curriculum development and contextualized instruction strongly preferred.
• Experience administering assessments, including standardized and customized alternative assessments required.
• Experience working with ex-offender population.
• Knowledge of the Foundation Skills Framework and KeyTrain software preferred.
• Strong written, communication and organizational skills required.
• Computer literacy required.
Reports to: Program Manager of Fee-for-Service Initiatives
Job Classification: Regular, part-time, exempt
Salary: $16.00 per hour ($18.00/hour if performance benchmarks are made); 20 hours per week (12.5 instructional, 7.0 prep)
Location: RISE Offices – 34 S. 11th ST., 6th floor
Hours: Mon. – Fri., 10 – 12:30 p m
