IRA Invites Proposals for Teacher as Researcher Grant
The International Reading Association, a global network of individuals and institutions committed to worldwide literacy, supports literacy professionals through a wide range of resources, advocacy efforts, voluntarism, and professional development activities.
To that end, the association is seeking proposals for the annual Teacher as Researcher Grant program.
Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to support teachers’ inquiries about literacy and instruction. Grant-related studies may be carried out using any research method or approach so long as the focus is on reading/writing or literacy. Activities such as developing new programs or instructional materials are not eligible for funding unless the activities are necessary for conducting the research.
Priority will be given to smaller grant requests in order to support as many teacher-researchers as possible.
To be eligible, applicants must be IRA members in good standing and practicing pre-K-12 teachers with full- or part-time classroom teaching responsibilities.
For complete program guidelines, information about previous grant recipients, a sample proposal, and application instructions, visit the IRA website.
DEADLINE: JANUARY 15, 2016
