Symphony for a Broken Orchestra
Posted by Fund for the School District of Philadelphia on January 9, 2017
Within the Philadelphia Public School system, there are hundreds of broken instruments ranging from a bent trombone slide to a mangled drum head that currently reside in “instrument graveyards” throughout our city’s public schools.
Symphony for a Broken Orchestra, a partnership from The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia and Temple Contemporary, will showcase the transformation of these instruments while providing professional development for Philadelphia Public School teachers to fix minor repairs in-house instead of discarding their potential.
