Sustainable Communities Planning Grant Program
Through the Appropriations Act in the 2010 budget, Congress approved $150 million for the Sustainable Communities Initiative to improve regional planning efforts to integrate housing, transportation, and economic development with sustainability and social equity. As part of this initiative, HUD, the EPA, and DOT have formed the Sustainable Communities Planning Grant Program, making $100 million available for regional planning efforts in urban and rural areas to incorporate sustainable development, livability and revitalization. The department is seeking input from the public and stakeholders on the program by March 12, 2010. Applications for grants will be due June 5, 2010. To learn more, visit the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) website.
