The Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia (SBN) is thrilled to officially publish its 2023-2024 Food Saver Challenge Report!
This report highlights the significant strides made in reducing food waste within Philadelphia’s food industry during our first-ever Food Saver Challenge, held from October 2023 through March 2024. With support from the NRDC’s Food Matters Initiative, local businesses adopted sustainable practices that led to impactful waste reduction, with Crust Vegan Bakery emerging as the “Food Saver Champion.”
The report details the challenges faced and the successes achieved in our collaborative effort to combat food waste, a critical issue as up to 40% of the U.S. food supply is wasted.
