Sustainability Director, Chester County Planning Commission

The Chester County Planning Commission is seeking qualified candidates for the newly created position of Sustainability Director. This position provides a unique and rewarding opportunity to lead the County’s sustainability initiatives including implementing the Chester County Climate Action Plan, supporting the Chester County Environmental and Energy Advisory Board, and assisting county departments, municipalities, and other stakeholders in meeting the county’s goals for sustainability, clean energy, greenhouse gas reduction, resource protection, and public outreach and communications. The County offers a flexible hybrid work environment and excellent benefits.
The successful candidate should have expertise in the areas of climate change, clean energy, and sustainability. Important attributes include strong leadership and project management skills, the ability to communicate complex ideas to persons of all knowledge levels, excellent public relations skills, and the ability to work with constituents with a wide range of interests and viewpoints. Knowledge of alternative energy ordinances and the PA Municipalities Planning Code is a plus.
Requires bachelor’s degree + 7 years of experience.
